If you go to your Start Menu and click on Control Panel, you will find an option for Network and Internet connections. This is where you can manage all the different internet connections available. Go to the Network and Sharing Center, and then select the Connect a Network option, in order to manage different internet connections from wireless sources.
Once in the proper menu, you need to choose the “Show All” option and hit the refresh button. This is where you will look for the active network connection that you want to log on with. If you are going to be regularly connecting to this network, as with home wireless networks, make sure to check the option that connects you automatically. This way, when you turn on your computer it will find the different internet connections on its own and access the proper one.
You may not be able to find a network to connect to, which will require some troubleshooting. Your first step should be finding the Connect to a Network window, clicking on Set up a Connection or Network, selecting Manually Connect to a Wireless Network, and pressing Next. This is the point where you can enter the network’s name and security features.
