Wireless Internet Problems

Before choosing your kit you spend all this time reading the boxes in the shop and they all sound so straight forward, so how come yours is not working?  Before you get too stressed there are some problems which are very common and also easy to solve,  so you could still be surfing the world wide web soon.

Choosing The Hardware To Minimize Your Problems

If you want to minimize your problems you need to choose your hardware carefully.  You will probably be buying a wireless router and a wireless network cards, and you need to make sure that these work together properly, simply buying the same make will not necessarily work!  Do not guess, you must carefully read the box and make sure you are using compatible hardware.  If you are unsure then you should be able to get advice from one of the assistants.  If you do not feel completely confident, check the shops returns policy and then get in touch with the manufacturers to check before you install.  This may sound like a lot of effort before you have even started, but you do not want to spend hours trying to find solutions to your problems when it will never work because of your hardware!

Problems And The Companies Updates

As with any electrical problem when troubleshooting your problems you need to start by making sure that everything is plugged in correctly.  As well as being pushed in far enough, everything must also be in the correct sockets.  Once this is done and there is electricity running through it you need to check the indicator lights.  You will need to watch for a while and see if anything happens to the lights, if they flick off then you will be dropping your connections and this will ruin your experience.  First try to turn everything off and on again.  If the lights flicker again then you will probably have to look for anther answer.  Routers have firmware on them, and this sometimes needs to be updated.  You can either call your firmware and they will probably have a team of technicians talking clients through their problems.  If you still have a hard wired internet connection you will be able to find the instructions on the manufacturers website.  It is advised that you check for firmware update approximately every three months, so you will need to know how to do this.  As problems go, that one is pretty easy to solve.

Problems Caused By The Modem

If you have just signed up with a contractor and they have supplied your equipment, it can still go wrong, it is not that they are persecuting you, it is just like any other piece of technology, sometimes they just don’t work!  If you have tried all the above and you are still having problems then you should contact your internet provider, they should be able to test your modem from their end of the connection.  This will give you an immediate answer, and if you modem is the problem they will simply pop another in the post to you.  Internet providers are used to dealing with problems, especially at the time of set up and they will help you, partly because they do not want you to take your business elsewhere.
